Here's to Texas

Captain Crunch - this is for you and all your Texas brothers - thanks for keeping the rest of us in line!

The Coyote Story

CALIFORNIA :

The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A
coyote jumps out and attacks the Governor's dog.

The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie "Bambi" and
then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is
natural. In the process the Governor is bitten by the coyote.

He calls Animal Control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the
State $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.

He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State
$200 testing it for diseases.

The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases
from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.

The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a
$100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.

The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a "coyote awareness
program" for residents of the area.

The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies
and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.

The Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The
State spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special
training regarding the nature of coyotes.

PETA protests the coyote's relocation and files a $5 million suit against
the State.

TEXAS :

The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote
jumps out and attacks his dog.

The Governor shoots the coyote with his State-issued pistol and keeps
jogging. The Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge and about $500 of his personal money on his gun.

The buzzards eat the dead coyote.
AND THAT, MY FRIENDS, IS WHY CALIFORNIA IS BROKE AND TEXAS IS NOT.

  1. That's totally inaccurate. It was a .380, those cost closer to $1. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/04/27/rick-perry-shoots-and-kil_n_554397.html

Love the blog, keep it up.

  2. Enola,

    (Captaincrunch again)

I just read what you wrote about Texas keeping everyone else in line and I just smiled, ear to ear smile.)

A friend of mine has two of the limited edition "Coyote" Ruger .380 pistols
i think its ruger, cant remember? I saw another one this weekend at a gunshow here in Texas and it was signed by Govenor Rick Perry, with the quote "Happy Hunting" (I dont evan want to know how much it was)

One more interesting thing about Texas. Starting a few weeks back, its legal to hunt with "Suppressors" and its was made legal to hunt from Helicopters a couple of years ago. We have AR-15 arial hog hunts all the time, their kinda pricey. (Now we can do it with Suppressors too) The cartels in Mexico may wanna watch out.

Compared too California, our idea of getting along with the natural order is to kill it, and grill it. Fast food is something you had to shoot with high volocity ammo.

About a year ago, my new next door nieghbor walked outside his front door and a full grown "Javelina" chased him into his car. My nieghbor called the nieghbor across the street(who was at work) and asked him what to do. He said get "Captaincrunch" (thats me) to shoot the Javelina so we could eat it. The new next door neighbor tried calling me, I was on the phone talking to another neighbor from down the street.

    The Javelina got away...

My new next door neighbor is a refugee from California. He now owns guns and a few days ago, his wife gave birth to two new Texans. A girl' 5 and one half pounds and a boy' 4 and one half pounds, Mom and the twins are fine and will come home tomorrow. (I gotta get them a Ruger 10/22 for their first birthday)

On a side note, I listen to Radio Free Redoubt every week on podcast and I think the redoubts a great place, but here in Texas we had this independace thing goin on since before 1836. Our state has been defended with Muskets and baptized in Blood long before the civil war.

    Dont mess with Texas.

  3. Well you have me confused. It states that he shot the coyote with his state issued pistol, then says he spent ........and about $500 of his personal money on his gun. So which is it? State issued with state money or was it his personal property which he paid $500 for? Inquiring minds want to know.

  4. True story....at least the Texas part.

  5. Governor Perry also helped the economy immensely by his action of shooting the coyote. Ruger came out with a little 380 pistol (same as Perry's) inscribed with a coyote and I think the Texas Star. They sold pretty quickly, causing a boom at Ruger :-)

  7. Having been a resident of California (past tense thank goodness) I can attest that this is probably the way California would handle the issue.

  8. I got the same kind of email, but it was about the gov from Wis and Ill.....Scott Walker being the governor that shot the coyote and saving the taxpayers a TON of money while the governor of Ill. cost and still keeps on costing the poor overtaxed folks in Ill.
I used to live in both of those states and LOVED Wisconsin and the people there...
    Thanks for letting me share....
Love from NC (where I have made my home for 11 or so years)

  12. As reported by the Washington Post, 28 April 2010:

Pistol-packing Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a message for wily coyotes out there: Don't mess with my dog.

Perry (R) told the Associated Press on Tuesday that he needed just one shot from the laser-sighted pistol he sometimes carries while jogging to take down a coyote that menaced his puppy during a February run near Austin.

Perry said he carries his .380 Ruger -- loaded with hollow-point bullets -- when jogging on trails because he is afraid of snakes. But when a coyote came out of the brush toward his daughter's Labrador retriever, Perry charged.

"Don't attack my dog, or you might get shot . . . if you're a coyote," he said Tuesday.

He is living in a private house in a hilly area southwest of downtown Austin while the Governor's Mansion is being repaired after a 2008 fire. Perry, who holds a concealed-handgun permit, carries the pistol in a belt.

He said he was jogging without his security detail shortly after sunrise when the coyote focused on the dog.

Perry said the laser pointer on his gun helped make a quick, clean kill. "It was not in a lot of pain," he said. "It pretty much went down at that particular juncture."

    God Bless Texas

  13. TX had a slumping economy by all indicators same as CA for the same periods. But because of government programs/contracts TX is artificially better off than CA for now.

CA is broke because of the redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the rich. This is happening not just at that state level but nation-wide. It’s due to awful tax laws and loop holes from the Bush-era madness.

It's a similar situation that historically happened in Mexico. Remember, Mexico and America has nearly equivalent natural resources. Mexico is one of the few resource rich/population poor countries. $$$ doesn't trickle down in the hands of the wealthy. It goes to trust funds and passive income generators that get taxed at ridiculously low rates or not at all.

It's not rocket-surgery folks, taking from the poor to give to the rich will be the demise of the American way. If Sheriff of Nottingham and Robin Hood were running for election who would you be voting for??? I think the answer would surprise at least half of you out there. -And most everyone reading this post.

And with TX gun toting nuts we'll be just right for Mexican-like street wars.

    1. Its Captaincrunch.

I see what you have to say makes sense, up until the point that you mention "And with TX gun toting nuts, we'll be just right for Mexican-like street wars"

First question, Do you live in Texas?

Second Question, Did you ever live in any Texas Border Towns, (I grew up in El Paso and saw border violence first hand)

Third Question, Have you ever known any Texas Gun Toting Nuts (like myself)

Let me start off by saying that American Culture and 'Texas Culture" would never breed "Pancho Villa's" or drug lords shooting up the streets, we would not permit this to happen. Mexican culture is deeply rooted colonialism, rebellion and banditry, a far cry from from English polite colonialism that our culture is derived from. Mexican Culture is derived from Mayan Pagan savagery, Spainish and French colonial brutality.
Yes' we were not immune from our own savagery, like the genacide against native Americans and southern and northern slavery. Yes' the northern states had slaves too.

In a nutshell, if you want to see where a country is going in the future, examine its past. Early American immigrants influence by English christian culture, or Mayan warlords tearing out beating human hearts every time they see a full moon.

Its in our deeply rooted in our christian culture not to run amok, snorting pounds of cocaine acting like "Tony Montana" wannabe's, Texans sure would not put up with that. About 100 years ago, in my part of South Texas group of Mexican Bandits raided a cotton farm and killed several family members. A posse was formed and they rode into Mexico and were gone about three months. All the bandits in that raid were killed by Americans/Texans in Mexico.
Thats how you handle banditry, you find the bad guys and you kill them.

If Mexican like street wars started up in Texas, they would not last long. Guns are illegal in Mexico and the good people can not fight back. Guns are legal in Texans, and we fight back!

Oh' yeah, almost forgot. On the Texas economy being better, you forgot about the oil and natural gas in the Eagle Ford thats being fracked out sixty miles north of my house. My 28 year old neighbor has a $60.000 dollar diesel pickup, a house and a family. He's gainfully employed in the oil fields as welder. (God Bless the Men and Women who blue collors to work everyday, they are the ones that keep this country moving)

Im sorry if I ran off on a tangent Enola, I had to respond. As a "TX gun toting nut" and seeing the border violence from ground zero, I had the responsibility to respond. (One person and his brother , I knew from work back in the 1990's was gunned down in front of a restaurant in Juarez, Mexico about three years ago) He was a Mexican national. The hit men were never cought. I don't know if this person was involved in smuggling and I don't want to know.

I know he did leave behind a wife and son.

Texas will never be like Mexico.

    2. Sorry but it's not about the rich taking from the middle class in California. It's about all the high numbers of welfare recipients that suck off the guvmnt teet for free food, free money they don't earn; free medical care that drains the system because there are fewer people paying their way; illegal aliens getting free schooling, free medical, and their Social Security checks are sent to them in Mexico and any monies they earn here goes "home" as the 2nd largest source of wealth in Mexico!!!

How long can any state, city, nation continue to keep paying out "free money" to those who don't earn anything but take, take, and keep on taking - entitlements - they get for free.

California has the highest payout of welfare in the nation and all the freeloaders know it. California is the gravy train for freeloaders.

With fewer of our population employed here as jobs have gone overseas - who is left working to pay for all these freebies that go to able-bodied, lazy, blood-suckers who expect their free money while doing nothing to earn it or even create jobs so they can pay their way. California is now nearly a Third World State with several cities going bankrupt.

The rich pay their fair share of taxes, create jobs to keep others employed as best as they can in this overly taxed state where many are leaving this state to live elsewhere.

  14. I don't know if this law got passed, but I *think* it was Washington state that wanted to make it illegal to kill rats in a trap-you had to catch them alive and relocate them...preferably to the yard of whoever thunked up that idea.
More wildlife here is killed by projectile weighing a ton or more travelling at 65MPH or so..
Is California a Idiotic Law Testing Facility? It seems that way at times.

    1. In Washington you can trap a rat and kill it or you can let it go on your own property NOT on your neighbors. Not allow to relocate it yourself.

  16. In Oklahoma, we'd use one bullet on the coyote then use it as bait to eradicate more dog (and chicken)killing coyotes. Why waste a good carcass?
