10 Things to do Until the Revolution


All we wanted to do was to buy a little .22 ammo.  Nothing horrific like .50 cal or steel penetrators, just a little bit of non-obtrusive .22 ammo.  Nothing.  Nada.  Store after store and the shelves were empty.  Oh, there was .17 HMR and 204 Ruger in abundance - but not 1 round of .22 LR.

Disappointed but not despairing, we found our way to the reloading isle.  We thought since we were there, we would pick up a few reloading components.  Ha!  There were no large rifle primers, small rifle primers, or any other primers to speak of, except for shotgun primers.  Only expensive high-end hunting projectiles, most in off-the-wall calibers, were left on the shelves and all of the popular reloading powders for rifle and pistol cartridges had vanished. I personally witnessed a half a dozen men standing in the powder section with the store copies of reloading books in their hands frantically looking for substitute loads with the powders available on the shelf.  Leaving sporting goods store after sporting goods store, I'm positive I heard the rattling of sabers.....

Next came a simple thing like AR500 body armor.  Nobody buys body armor, right?  Wrong.  We found that there is at least a 10 - 12 week lead time for coated AR500 body armor.  10 - 12 weeks!  For body armor!

It is very apparent to this simple, country housewife that a revolution is afoot and the people are leading the charge.   Unlike previous "weapons bans" it is not just the guns, magazines and ammo that have been affected - it is everything associated with all-out freedom fighting, militia led, guerrilla war.

And so, rather than sitting around despairing, Sir Knight and I have come up with a list of things to do.  This is just a sampling of ideas - we would love to hear yours.

10 Things to do Until the Revolution

  1. Get right with God.  The state of your soul is the only thing that should worry you.  If you don't know Jesus - nothing else matters! "Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yea, I will help you; yea, I will uphold you; I will uphold you with my hand of righteousness" Isaiah 41:10
  2. Inventory and make a list so that you can locate all of your gear.
  3. For goodness sake - zero your rifle!
  4. Clean and lubricate all of your firearms - check your ammunition and magazine supply.
  5. Make sure your tactical gear (you have tac gear, right?!) is in good, serviceable condition and is fitted for your mission.
  6. If you haven't already, learn to shoot the weapons in your possession.  Take a class.  If you can shoot and have no military background, read this blog (Mountain Guerrilla) and consider taking a class from this individual (be warned, If I ever find out where he lives, I'm going to send his wife (HH6) a bar of handmade soap to wash out his mouth).
  7. Make sure you have a face mask (balaclava) available to hide your identity, in case peaceful, armed protests are still an option - you don't want to be identified and harassed.
  8. I never thought I would ever say this, but.....consider purchasing body armor. The coated AR500 body armor mentioned above will serve very well for guerrilla/ prepper purposes.  Look here and here.
  9. OPSEC.  You are going to have to be very careful who you trust.  Read this story on SurvivalBlog.  In case you didn't notice, the author mentioned in the article works in law enforcement.  I myself, have been told personally, by a law enforcement officer, that his preps consisted of taking food and weapons from Mormons in his area, since he knew where they lived.
  10. Keep your head down.

  1. That looks a lot like my list. We've got the gear, but don't know how to use it nearly well enough. A lot of people need to add "11. Learn to rough it. You may have to give up a being dry and sleeping soundly for freedom." You folks are already a long ways there, but we're all going to have to learn to live a LOT leaner in the future. That's really what worries me most. Simply put, it's not going to be fun!

    I do not think Americans will have a revolution. I think our own goverment will "cease to function" when it goes so broke that the currency will be worthless and they can no longer feed and pay the troops and the troops "abandon thier posts" and go AWOL.

    2. no more EBT, welfare, etc. people riot, look for food, like South Central L.A. april, 1992.
    3. Martial Law crackdown, drone missles go flyin' Constitution eliminated. Police state crackdown on steroids, .gov goes banana's
    4. After troops cant get paid for awhile and demoralization sets in. Troops go AWOL, worried about families. Officers and Pilots fail to report for duty. Military comanders lose control and restrict troops to base to protect assets at all cost by offering shelter and food to families of troops.
    5. Politicians run around like chickens with thier heads cut off, complete dissary. Many politicans shot in head, executed by Pentagon "Joint Chiefs of Staff trying military coup which will further cause more chaos.
    6. Redoubt States make own currency. Texas and many Southern States do the same. The 10th Amendment on Steriods is picking up steam. Local and State control in some area's of country work.
    7. Some blue states follow suit, make own currency.
    8. America starts to break up.
    9. Independent regions and semi-indenpendent regions emerge with thier own leadership, laws and goverment. Kinda what Mathew Bracken evisions. Balkenization of the former U.S.

    I dont want this to happen, but its the path we are on.

    I saw some horrible stuff in Africa years ago. My best advice. Get away from other people. Get to the woods, find a cabin. Hunker down and feed your children. Let your damn Mcmansion in the suburbs get looted, burned to the ground. Dont let your children become street urchins with distended bellies suffering from malnutrition.

    Listen' people. Your family is pricless, your kids are priceless. That 60 inch flatscreen tv, Ipad, Iphone and everything else is garbage. Complete materielistic garbage.

    All you really need in Africa is a bedsheet around your waist and a pair of sandals as you make your way to the next refugee camp looking for food. A "well equipped refugee" has a baby in a backpack with a large container full of food and stuff carried on top of your head and an AK in your arms.

    Solar generators, Solar radio's, rocket stoves, battery supplies, High tech bug out bags, fancy knives, fancy radio eqiuipment, stored seeds, night vision scopes and all the other tricks of the trade are also worthless if your half starved and can hardly function. Add sleep deprevation, stress and other not so comfortable conditions into the mix and you will lose manual dexterity, your hands will shake, your aim with your rifle will be off. You will feel like crap and lose motivation to do anything.

    I know how this feels, I know what to expect. That fancy AR with all the gadgets on it will be hard to control. Pulling the charging handle back or just loading a mag will become a chore. Body armor will be dropped off, left behind. Better that the wife and kids wear it. Too tired to carry it to battle, bad enough having all the ammo to carry. Being so exhuasted that the thought of taking a bullet will be appealing.

    I learned what true exhuastion and demoralization is when in training in the military. You get to the point where you will not care about anything.

    Best thing to do I think is run and hide, survive to live another day. Let all the fanantics, freedom lovers, socailists, tea partiers, looters, rioters, good guys and bad guys shoot each other down in the streets.

    Later' come out of bunker, out of the cabin out in the woods. Meet with friends and nieghbors that are still alive. Pull out a copy of the Constitution and start back at step one.

      Yeah' your right. Get the Bible out too. We need a Constitution for some kind of basic rules to live by like the Ten Commandments. The Founders of this country had the right idea, a basic simple document that sets basic rules to live by in a society and protects rights of the individual and property owner. What we dont need is amendments and thousands of rules and laws that contradict each other and that have to be clarified in a Constitutional court.

      Things started to fall apart back in 1913 with the start of the "income tax" and got worse in 1934 under the socailist progressive "Roosevelt" and its been a down hill run ever since.

      The core of the Constitution is a wonderful document. There's nothing in there about property taxes, goverment healthcare and goverment funded abortion and welfare. There is no "cradle to grave" guarenteed goverment help in the original document. No EPA, no FEMA, no standing army costing the taxpayers a trillion dollars a year to maintain.

    4. I understand what youre saying, but I believe things began to fall a part when "we the people" replaced GOD and the "no religious test" clause (article 6 para 3) for our rulers was put in. Not to mention the religious pluralism embodied by the 1st amendment.

    5. The constitution is a document inspired by God as well as our pact with God. The Constitution goes hand in hand with the Bible. Sadly the truth spinners have perverted the meaning of so much of our heritage that I fear God will no longer be able to honor his pact with this "Nation Under God." I fear that the blood of patriots and tyrants may need to be shed to refresh the tree of liberty as well as our pact with God.

    7. While the constituion confirms rights and limits the power of the government, it is each and every one of us who are to blame for the shredding of that document. A document can not do anything, it was up to our parents and is now up to us to stand up for those rights.

    One important and amusing thing I wanted to mention. Some of the trucks I work with are made by Navistar International Diesel. Thease are the people who make the MRAP armored vehicle. The DHS just purchased 2,700 MRAP's with the Maxforce diesel engine.

    The best way to stop and MRAP vehicle is to make it drive real slow for a long time. That will foul up the DPF (diesel particulate filter) a piece of EPA mandated eviromental garbage. A clogged DPF can cause a check engine light and regen light to go off. If the vehicle does not go into regen mode at highway speed, or brought to dead stop to go into regen mode. The computer will derate the engine (engine power loss) and shut the engine down to be towed to a repair shop. Another big flaw is with EGR valve (exhuast gas relay) same EPA mandated garbage. EGR valves are failing all the time and its the biggest warrenty recall stuff we have.

    The Maxforce engine in the MRAP platform is the worst diesel on the market. Poorly disigned low cost diesel thats prone to drop valves and have other failures.
    One last thing thats kinda amusing. The A/C system is prone to failures on the Navistar International trucks. In other words, its gonna get kinda hot for the gestapo in black body armor in the MRAP.
    If all 2,700 MRAP's are used at the same time for gun confiscation and to round up people for fema camps, I can almost guarentee that half of them will be broke down or in repair shop somewhere waiting to be hooked up to a computer and parts to be ordered to be fixed (this usually takes weeks)

    All David's gotta do is walk and let Goliath follow. Goliath will choke on his own exhuast and come to a dead halt in the middle of the road.

  4. Wow, this is so timely. Enola, you are on point. My list looks very much like yours. Thank God there are a handful of Americans that are awake. I've begun to carry every day while on the property and in the house. I squirreled away ammo the last 2 years and boy am I glad I did!! I'm looking to get a cross bow and get stocked up on arrows. Bow and arrow is silent and that could be very advantages.

    I read an article that the government has been buying up all the ammo and is also back ordering ammo so that it is not available to the public. Since there was a blow back to the gun confiscation they were undaunted and have simply made bullets unavailable. Don't remember which venue I read that, but I believe it. Government manipulates commodities all the time. Free market, hah. I find it interesting that almost overnight that ammo was gone. There are some very bad plans being concocted against the american citizens.

  5. The ptb would like to see less population, but would like to preserve the natural resources for the elite. That means they will concentrate on keeping the great lakes preserved for their use and other fresh water resources as well as certain mines, etc. Have you seen the "round abouts" in your highway design. There are as many as 4 in succession so that you don't need traffic lights? So no electricity and you can have traffic flow, altho it is slow. Do you have good wells out there in the redoubt? and a way to get the water to the surface? You can't store enough water to live years, you must have a supply of clean water, even a berky will one day quit working. Just hope it will be a while before tshtf.... It has taken way longer than I would have thought already so why not some time longer? One can hope.

    1. From a well armed Mormon family . We are not Amish and we will fight for our families . Remember after WW2 the world was celebrating the downfall of Hitler . It was the Mormons that had train loads of food ready to go and fed thousands in defeated Germany . It was the Mormons that started the candy air drops for thousands of German children.
      The Mormons have been doing food storage for 170 years . Just a bit of a heads start on the Prepper movement.

      A Mormon friend of mine built my house (he's a homebuilder) I got a mortgage of course. I made many trips to a Mormon cannery in San Antonio and met many really neat people.

      Out of most organized Christian groups I have a great amount respect for the Mormons on how they take care of thier families and community.

God never said he was one creature and the apostil steven said he saw the son of man sitting on the right hand of god; so if god Was only one creature what was god doing siting on his own right hand- trying to scratch a hemmoroid I suppose.... The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, known as the Mormons, believes and teaches that God the Father used to be a man on another planet, that he became a God by following the laws and ordinances of that God on that planet and came to this world with his wife (she became a goddess), and that they produce a spirit offspring in heaven. These spirit offspring, which includes Jesus, the devil, and you and me, are all brothers and sisters born in the preexistence. These preexistence spirits come down and inhabit babies at the time of birth and their memories of the preexistence are lost at the time. Furthermore, faithful Mormons, who pay a full 10% tithe of their income to the Mormon church through Mormon temples, have the potential of becoming gods of their own planets and are then able to start the procedure over again.

      Is Mormonism Christian? No.

      If you were to go to any Christian bookstore and look in the non-Christian cult section you will see numerous books on Mormonism that document Mormon beliefs as aberrant and un-Biblical. The Mormon Church is not considered a Christian church.

      Jesus warned us about such groups when he said in Matthew 24:24 that in the last days many false christs and false prophets will arise and deceive many. Mormonism is exactly that, a manifestation of a false prophet: Joseph Smith, who taught all these things.

      The Bible does not teach that God came from another planet, or that he has a goddess wife, or that we can become gods. In fact, the Bible clearly and definitely contradicts those teachings. But, the Mormon Church responds by saying that the Bible is not really trustworthy, that the true faith was lost, and that its leader, Joseph Smith, restored the so-called "true" Christian faith: god from another world, becoming gods, goddess mother, etc. Of course, the Mormon Church's claim is not true.

      Mormon beliefs are not in line with biblical truth. Because they teach things that are opposed to the word of God. It is clear that Mormonism is not Christian.

    7. There IS a difference between "judging" and DISCERNMENT: 1 John 4: 1 through 6:

      "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world and the world listens to them. We are from God; he who knows God listens to us; he who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error."

      Clearly this portion of Scripture is to help us in discernment. The last statement of verse 6 really sums it up, "By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error." Or back in the first statement of verse 2, "By this you know the Spirit of God." It's critical for us to be able to discern between the truth that comes from the Spirit of God, and the error that comes from other spirits.
      Turn if you will for a moment to 1 Timothy 4:1, just one brief look at a verse. The Spirit explicitly says, 1 Timothy 4:1, that in later times some will fall away from the faith. Falling away from the faith why? They will have come to hear the faith, perhaps to understand the faith, obviously not to believe it but being exposed to the truth they fall away from it like those in Hebrews 6. Why? "Because they pay attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons." That's the problem. You've got demon spirits whose goal is deception, concocting lies to assault the truth of God.

      Any form of religion other than the truth is a demonic operation...demonic. Any world religion, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, you name it, any religion of any animistic tribe anywhere, any form of pseudo-Christianity...Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Christian Science, you name it, Roman Catholicism. That's demonic operation. That's a demonic system because it's either from the Spirit of God, or demons. There's no middle ground.

    9. The Bible says that by their fruits ye shall know them. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, & I most definitely am a Christian. I love my Savior Jesus Christ, and last I checked, at the final judgement, His is the opinion that matters, not yours.
      I have a more than sufficient food storage, & store some things specifically to share. Does the Bible not teach us to love our brothers as ourselves? As one of our church leaders said a while back, "We don't have to share, we get to share". Why does the Old Testament contain the story of the widow & her son, where the prophet instructed her to make a cake for him, first - - and when she did, the vessel of oil & the barrel of meal failed not. What about the widow who borrowed the pots, then filled them all with oil from a tiny vessel, saving her sons from slavery? The Lord is perfectly capable of miraculously extending a small amount of food into a sufficient amount. What about the manna in the desert? Storing food isn't about the food; it is about being obedient to the Lord. I prefer to place my faith in my Lord, altho I do know how to shoot the rifle I own & my father's guns I inherited. I believe there is a place for both protection & sharing. It's easy to share when there is no shortage, but disasters are when our faith & our souls, as well as our stores, are tested. -M

My problem is not with God, it is with you trying to place yourself between my Lord and myself, where YOU do not belong. Your "interpretation" of what the Bible means is not the same as mine, and you are entitled to your opinion, but that does not mean that you are right. Your opinion is not scripture, so I am not concerned that you think I am wrong. My salvation is between my Savior & me. You work out your salvation, & I will work out mine.-M

    17. Iam an ex mormon...they are not stupid...very smart and knows what is going on they are armed to the teeth...make friends with them and they will be with you angainst our problem.     21. Mormons are not CHRISTIAN for the reasons stated above MAR 12th 0943hrs. Why is LDS baptism NOT recognized by ANY Christian denomination, ever wonder why that is? mormons worship the jesus/god of joe smith, NOT THE BIBLE. Since they do not worship the GOD of the BIBLE they are IDOLATERS. If I name my dog jesus and worship him, am I also a christian?

    25. the Bible is not the SOLE source that LDS uses, ever heard of the book of "the book of mormon?" (revealed to joe smith by Satan, gal 1:6-10). You cannot be a Christian when you believe in a false Christ.

  8. Well, at least someone has now said IT and hasn't retracted it 2 seconds later like Yeager did over at Tactical Response! Not to pick on him since it's hard to have freedom of speech when the state (and I'm sure Feds) came down hard on him revoking his CCWP (since needing that lic is how he makes a living) and I'm sure threatened him with some major stuff.

    The revolution is something you can almost smell, and at times, surprises me who is speaking of it. Although they don't really realize what they are saying yet because they haven't connected the dots. Soon enough - something will happen and it will be awful! Right now being a chameleon is my strategy....as well as Enlola's top 10 list!

    If you saw the movie "I am Legend" - do you remember the part where the female (sorry don't remember actress/character name) told Will Smith's character there was a human colony of sorts up in Vermont. He asked her how she knew that, and she responded that God told her. He looked at her funny and she said that the world is quieter now and you can hear Him speak. Not only is God speaking - he's shouting, so listen up! Something wicked this way comes! I also don't believe all the natural events that have been happening up in the Northeast are just the 'weather'. Earthquakes, hurricanes, Nor'easter after Nor'easter - hello Northeast & DC - stop your evil ways!

  9. If he plans on living off the Mormons he's going to be disappointed- less than 2% of the Mormons have listened and have a food storage built up. However, THIS Mormon does but if he comes knocking at my door he'll find we know how to shoot and will not hesitate to protect ourselves. I will give freely but I WON'T be forced to share my food with monsters with guns.

    2. THANKS JAN for talking about the 2%. I have met several idiots that think they are going to murder others (Mormons in particular) for food. I have NEVER met a Mormon with much food that didn't also have a mountain of ammunition to protect it. I grew up in the LDS culture. I have four daughters, any of whom can out-shoot 95% of LEOs (which may not be saying much!) They can pick up nearly any gun and solve problems, and deal with gun shot wounds and other trauma. Looters will quickly discover that robbing others during a crisis will end in much unhappiness. Their children will be orphans.   10. For two months, I have looked for .22LR, as my son is in 4H shooting sports; none is to be found and every store employee I speak with says they get a box here and a box there. I go to four stores, several times a week, hoping to get one of those "box here, box there". Son will just continue with the air rifle.

    Today, hubby and I had a conversation much like the one you outlined. We, too, are looking for more of "everything" and body armor is on the list. We have another grandbaby on the way, and I'm thinking I should get one of your baby buckets, just in case...in addition to some diapers and such. I have a few things I saved from the kids, so could get by in a pinch. How bizarre is that, to write of body armor and birthing supplies in the same paragraph?

    I pray to God that we can avoid a revolution that includes drones, bullets, and MRAP's to name a few things and instead have a revolution of the masses turning to God and His ways, including those in DC who are supposed to be serving the people. However, it seems that the printing presses making the funny money are going at warp speed and eventually the fiat currency will flat line and the riots will begin, with FEMA doing what they can to feed the masses by taking from those who have invested their hard work and money. That is when the bullets will fly, I think.

    I just remembered that I need to add heavy mil clear plastic and hog panels to make hoop houses to my list; the growing season is very short here and I'll need to do everything I can to extend it.

I cant get stuff for everyone on this blog, sorry its just too demanding of a chore. Im only going for silver. Silvers down in price (under $30 an once) The assult rifle ban expired in 2004. We had a good eight year run to buy what we needed. If your new to the survival world and you feel under equipped. Do what you can, at least get an decent 8 shot combat shotgun. Lots of twelve guage out there still. Your brain is the best survival tool, that and you can get lots of good guns and ammo from bad guys that you just blasted with your combat shotgun.

    One other thing too, if a bad guy is at your door and is wearing body armor. Dont waist ammo on a head shot. Shoot the armor dead center on the coated plate. Knock the bad guy back, knock the wind out of him. He will stuble, fall down backwards onto his buddies, throwing them all off balance. All you will hear are "Im hit" "Im Hit" at that point. Your in control of the battle.
    If you get hit right on the plate, your first thought will be 'are my guts hanging out of my stomach" Thoughts like that will break the focus and concentration of most warriors and they will lose motivation at that point.

      In this video, Richard Davis, inventor of Second Chance body armor, shoots the reporter in the chest with a FAL at about 5 feet from the muzzle. Oh, the reported is standing on one leg when he is shot. Result? Nothing. The reason is explained on the video. Also note that this video is at least 20 years old... Take the time to view the video to properly inform yourself and stop the spread of things that aren't necessarily true.

      I gotta admit I could be wrong. I will look more into it. I base my conclusions on video I've seen of our troops getting hit in Afghanistan and Iraq. It kinda ruined their entire day. I have worn body armor before and I can tell you that that stuff will make you very "top heavy" losing your balance with that stuff on is pretty easy.

      Yeah' I was gonna keep my mouth shut (opsec) but what the heck!

      I got Body Armor, in fact I got the mil issue "Second Chance" made in 2004 (mint condition) mil issue (minus the plates) I need plates. I got fully loaded PMAGS filled with green tip 62 grain all over it. Darn thing ways a ton. No way would I want to march with that thing. No wonder most of our troops and former troops have knees that are shot to hell from lumping all that stuff (Battle Rattle as they call it)


      The Men in World War two had it easy. The heaviest piece of equipment they had was the M1 Garand.

      Why I have body, because now bad guys are getting body armor. Thats why. I made some meth dealers in my neighborhood very angry and had threats in the past. Mexican gang members like to shoot houses up too, so I pop this stuff on if something like this happens. The police in my town are reactive not proactive so they are of no use.

      I am on my own....always have been, always will be.

      I still have to rest on my logic that any bad guy getting hit dead center on a plate with at least a 5.56 or better or maybe a .38 or larger for pistols will have the wind knocked out of him. His first instinct will be thinking of his intestines lying on the ground at his boots. He will be in shock and most important out of the fight until he catches his breath and realizes what has happened and all of his vital organs are still in the right spots.

      In that time frame you can take control of the battle......and prevail

      On a side note, I think for myself the Body Armor will be only defensive. If I have to hunt a bad guy, I think I will ditch the heavy stuff and use stealth, speed , concealment and cover as my most valuable asset.

    6. It will stop the penetration of a slug due to the low velocity and dispersion of energy, but you will be in no condition to return fire for the few crucial seconds you will need to survive, and the shoty will get you with the second slug...

    7. Okay, as someone who has worn the military issue plates and seen what happens to them when they are shot.
      1. 7.62MM breaks the plates, you will be lucky to have a plate last 2-3 hits. 5.56MM, not going to hold up for too many more hits.
      2. They stop most common low caliber pistol rounds fairly well. Downside, you absorb the impact, same with shotgun slugs. Bear that in mind if the time comes, hint hint. .45 APC ball ammo tears the plates up. For those that don't mind lever guns (which I don't), a 45-70 405 gr round at close range, will most definately knock someone down. At which point you walk up and finish the job with a round to the face. This could also be applied to a .458 SOCOM AR build. For those brave souls that have a bit bigger pockets than I. There are .50 BMG upper receivers that mount to an AR15 lower. While it will be a bolt action single shot, I can guarantee, you will NOT have to worry about body armor being an issue on your attacker, or the attacker behind them...... And yes, these come in an 18 inch barrel and can be shoulder fired... :P

    8. That is why we are not recommending ceramic plates - the average prepped/survivalist won't have the ability to resupply. The steel plates have been proven to be able to take literally hundreds of rounds - even large rifle rounds. I'm not sayin' it would be fun, but you would still be in the fight.

    I know I left a lot of stuff today on your blog, but you may want to read this. I talked to an oil field truck driver (who is not affiliated with the corp. I work for) He made $240.000 last year hualing crude oil! Yeah thats right, $240.000. He has to pay for his own fuel, $6000 a month, He leases his truck so and he said that payment is $2000 a month. Insurance is about $1000 a month, then he has to pay for all truck maintence except for warrenty stuff. All the nickel and dime stuff wears away to about maybe $100.000 to $120.000 a year. I hope John Jacob Scmitt at Radio Free Redoubt see's this.
    If any out of work decent people in the American Redoubt need work, come to the Texas oil Field (Eagle Ford Shale deposit in South Texas) We need workers, truck drivers, diesel tech's etc. Make lots of money, send it home to Idaho, Montana or whereever and set yourself and your family up so you can ride out the collapse easier. (Oh' Yeah' almost forgot. The average truck driver down here works 70 hours a week and the one who makes $240.000 a year works weekends making $1000 a day)
    This whole area has the look and feel of a true 19th century gold rush with all the 'wild west stuff" going on. Most truck drivers down here carry guns in thier trucks too. Its legal in Texas to do so.

We don't need to go to town every second day, not regulars at the speakeasy or the car wash, don't base our conversations around whatever sitcom was on "the tube" last night, and spend lots of our "free" time seeing to the resources we've got. So how ever do we find these others, and how can we build that mutual trust?

      Try a local shooting range, or a church. Maybe a club for tactical shooting competitions. You may be very suprised at how many people are 'closet survivalists" types. Most of us are normal people with normal lives, normal families. Focus on the normal types, they are the most stable types. Nothing wrong with being a underground "Burt Gummer" with a well stocked "rec room" (see "Tremors video) but watch for wacko's who want to blow things up and create chaos.

      Be careful who you talk with and be careful who you listen too on this stuff.

      Myself, I hope in ten years I can retire at the ripe old age of 56, sell most of my guns and stuff and buy some land somewhere and be a hermit or something. Maybe be a modern day "Henry David Thoreau" in a country where there are no income taxes and property taxes (Yeah' I know, Im dreaming)

    I put much more thought into this subject of why the people of this country will not participate into any sort of an armed up rising against the Neo-facists that have taken control of our society.

    I live in suburbia with almost everyone I know has their faces plasterd to a flatscreen tv every night. We are being fed a culture of Hollywood and are more concerned about Football, Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa more than about how many years we have been in Afghanistan and how Osama is dead, but we have to keep chasing a phantom enemy in land that will fall apart anyway after we leave.
    No one cares about the National Debt, its ok. Everyone has credit card debt and the goverment gives us free stuff. We are the richest country in the world, we can afford it.

    Conservative Christians are being villified as Homosexuals given thier own tv shows to promote their family and Christian destroying lifestyle.

    I feel as If Im living in Berlin in 1935. Im listening to the propaganda, I've been to the rallies. I have lifted up my right arm in a mass salute, Sieg Heil' Now I am seeing what is really going on and I am horrified.

    It wont be the Jews this time, it will the be the Christians. Nobody will care as long as they have there EBT, WIC, as long as Goverment provides for most Americans daily needs and as long as the giant media propaganda machine vomits out mondern Neo-Facisim on how people should really live and what is acceptable and unaccetable.     A man would have to lose everything, and I mean everything to be motivated enougth to get off thier collective butts and change things. Many would still believe in the system will take care of them still as they are trying to eat a leather boot that was cooked in a pot of boiling water. We lack the courage, stamina and independent minds we once had. Now the TV fills the voids in our lives with collectivist thought much like the TV's in George Orwells 1984.

    The goverment is its own worst enemy that will be the saving grace of many "like minded individuals" Things will go so bad financially for D.C. that they will lack the manpower and money to take isolated regions like the American Redoubt that break from thier control. Same goes for Texas and many other states. I would not be suprised to see California taken by Mexico as well as Arizona, and New Mexico and some parts of Far West Texas annexed by Mexico. Washington D.C. wont have the stomach to use nukes against Mexico City for invading the U.S.

    This country had its day...Like the saying goe's the star that burns brightist burns out the quickest.

    "The country is the people" and if you stop and look around at the people, you can get a pretty good idea of where we are going and it does not bode well for the future. I will stick to my thesis that we are beyond the point of recovery and there is no hope or change possible.

    Again, move to the redoubt or some other state that will fare better in future years. Maybe leave the country as others are doing and "Go Galt"

    You also do not need to lose everything before you find the will to fight for what you believe; you have to be willing to sacrifice everything, you do not have to actually lose it.

      I still believe "most" Americans are lazy, fat, stupid and un-motivated. The only time most of them get motivated is for anything that 'feels good" or for anything involving entertainment and sex (Enola, hope you dont mind me using the word, sex) We mirror Sodom and Gommorea in many ways.

      In that category of Americans (which is the majority) I believe most will not wake up and smell the coffee untill they are living in cardboard shantyvilles watching thier children die from malnutrition. Evan then, a large segment will still sit around in thier cardboard shanty's with their hands out to .gov hoping for some kind of Socailism or National Socailism to help them out when thats what got them there in the first place.

      For a person to be 'truly motivated" you have to strip them of everything, tear them apart. De-humanize that individual to the point where the thought of taking a 5.56 mm round is a relief and then you may have a well motivated individual that is willing to fight, work or march for freedom.

      Its easier just to stay at home, take a prozac, eat a box of cookies and watch "American Idol" on a 60 inch flatscreen TV.

    Last week I was sloshing through mud, my converse combat boots (The most comfortable I have worn both here in Afghanistan and in Iraq)wet, covered in deep, cold mud...I had what you might call an epiphany, I realized at that moment that God had directed my life(as He always has)and He had placed me in Iraq and now Afghanistan living in harsh conditions that many of my old friends and co-workers in CONUS would never tolerate...all for a reason; the reason being to prepare me for what is coming back in the America I have loved and love even more so having lived and worked in these God forsaken active war zones in the Middle East. I do not look forward to what I feel is coming due to the reckless financial policies our inept politicians have allowed to occur, 2008 was ugly, what is just over the horizon headed this way will be brutal beyond believe....I place my fate in Gods hands and will rely on muscle memory and pre-positioned supplies, weapons and a network of God fearing friends and family. May God help all of us.

    1. Heck, throw in a few large plastic bottles of dried onion flakes and 22 jars of salsa to boot. At many large food stores, in the section that carries food from various countries, you will find several varieties of sprouted breads from Germany, including dark rye, sunflower etc. these loaces do not spoil. I don't know how they do it, but it isn't due to preservatives. We keep at least 25 one pound loaves on hand. They are sized like a paving brick. Make great bases for homemade veggie bakes with cheese. Great thing is they are less expensive than other breads, far more healthy, and very tasty.

    Second, stop calling it a Revolution! A Revolution is to revolt against a legitimate government. The current government has revolted by usurping the rule of law, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. All three branches are in a state of revolt by attempting to fundamentally change the country not by the precepts of the constitution but through cohesion, illegal or dictate methods. All forms of revolution.
    Third, our actions would be defense of the Republic. Our current constitutional methods of defense failed through the ballot box (which have been corrupted), protests (which have been marginalized) and redress (which have been ignored). If you want to see where we are read Patrick Henry's speech.

    Since, the constitution is now null and void by dictate, the next document to rely on is the Declaration, where it is upon the people to shake off a tyrannical government, through force if necessary!

  25. AGREE...My family and I are Born-Again Christians and are 5 Point Calvinists. We would love to have a property where we could start over and get away from the city (Seattle, Wa) but on my meager wages, even with the sale of our home, can not afford a 20 acre property alone. Are there any resources that could connect families like ours to others to share buying a piece of property? We do not have any friends who think alike.   28. I just discovered that I'd had a plethora of hits from Enola's blog, so came to see what was up.

    1) I'm relatively certain that Mrs. Gay's comment about washing my mouth out had more to do with my language than with my Copenhagen....note to self...make sure she never finds out where I live....

    2) Multiple center-fire rifle hits to body armor plates will NOT necessarily knock you down. Even if they do knock you down, perhaps because you were walking uphill when the hits occurred, they will not put you out of the fight. In February of 2002, on a mountainside in Afghanistan, my ODA was ambushed by a small contingent of AQ fighters. I took three rounds of 7.62x39 to the chest plate. As I was walking uphill into the fire when it happened, I did go over backwards. I still managed, at the same time as my partner, who was not shot, to get multiple rounds into the shooter, from on my back.

    People who spread the belief that getting hit in the plate will still take someone out of the fight are either trying to reinforce their own misconceptions, or B) are ignorant of what actually happens. I've seen guys take 7.62x54 to the plate, never even wobble, and still kill the shooter.

      I based my conclusions on the video's I've seen of military personel getting hit in the body armor and yelling "Im hit" about a dozen times. At that point thier focus is lost on the shooter and in some instances they dropped their rifles. I guess its the suprise and shock of actually getting hit and the fear and reality that they could have been killed kicking in evan though they were not injured.
      Im not saying Im right, Im not saying Im wrong. I guess every situation is different. One thing I am sure of is that I see lots of "bravado" and "tough guy talk" on the internet and being a veteran myself, you just dont know how a person is going to react when they are actually in a firefight and bullets are flying in thier general direction.

  29. As far as zeroing your rifle and learning to shoot it, absolutely, and The Appleseed Project has to be one of your best bets for getting this instruction quickly and inexpensively.

    The Appleseed Project is a nation wide, volunteer driven, non profit organization dedicated to teaching the absolute best fundamentals of rifle marksmanship program in America today. Because it is run by folks just like you, there is no elitist attitude, specialize gear needed or any other barrier to keep you from attending.

    Being a non profit and volunteer staffed, the $70 fee for two days of instruction which includes a section devoted to zeroing your rifle, is affordable on most budgets. The Appleseed Project is not affiliated with any kind of a Militia and there is no military type training at events, just rifle marksmanship and American History.

    I have been an instructor for The Appleseed Project for almost seven years now and I am always amazed at how badly most Americans shoot. Rifle marksmanship has fallen from our American Heritage tree and allowed to rot. As a young boy 40 years ago, all of the kids in my age group (that I knew) were shooting, hunting, boys and girls. Now, very few children shoot growing up.

    Before I started instructing, I heard folks tell me all the time what proficient shots they were and I never doubted them. Now, I meet those same folks on the firing line and I am sad to relate that most Americans, about 19 out of 20, can not make a 100 yard shot with their rifles. And I don't just get new shooters.

    And while Appleseed is a program based on teaching the fundamentals, it is not a "basics" course or baby course. It is a fast paced course designed to teach you the skills and techniques required to competently work your rifle no matter where your shooting path takes you. On any weekend I might have a brand new, never shot a firearm before shooter on one end of the line, and a fellow at the other end that is gearing up to deploy to Afghanistan and is taking this course as a lead up before he takes the Marine Corps Sniper Course, and they both get what they came for.

    Appleseed teaches to a four minute of arc standard. That is teaching folks to hit a four inch square at 100 yards with a rack grade rifle, surplus ammunition and iron sights. This is a doable task and is plenty accurate for most needs. Shooting to four minutes means having the ability to hit a man sized silhouette at 500 meters with the above mentioned equipment.

    Add to the rifle marksmanship several hours of discussion about the events of April 19th, 1775, who was there, what they were doing and why they were doing it and you get a really well rounded weekend. Not to mention, or perhaps exactly to mention, that these events are attended by the absolute best folks America has to offer and it makes an Appleseed two day rifle marksmanship weekend a great value.

    As far as folks getting hit in armor and their reaction to it, a imagine a lot of folks do not know what catching a round feels like and some folks probably just do not know if they have been fatally hit, or if the armor defeated the incoming round. You see folks hit in the arm or leg and drop out with shock on one end and guys fatally hit and continuing to run at full speed and pump out rounds at the other. The only real difference being in the following minutes after the hit, either they are actually broken skin wounded or not.

    I imagine having on armor and surviving a hit as a better scenario than otherwise.

  30. The issue with pax getting hit in the plate, in theatre, then going down screaming about being hit is a training issue, pure and simple. If you're not dead, you're still in the fight. Until the Army as an institution can figure out the importance of adequately training that, rather than telling young soldiers, "Oh, your MILES gear took a hit, you're out of the fight!" You're going to continue to see that kind of nonsense.

    For an object lesson in what I mean by, if you're not dead, you're still in the fight, do a Google search for "John Wayne Walding." He was a 7th SFG(A) weapons sergeant in Afghanistan. Read his citation, then read some of the other accounts, as well.

      You hit the nail right on the head. Your not out of the fight untill some kind of catastrophic injury has occurred. It all depends on the individuals training, and dedication to duty. I was Navy so we spent much time training on equipment over, and over and over again so we could fall back on "muscle memory" on firefighting pumps, or anything else for that matter. Basically' you will not quit your post untill properly relieved" evan if you just had an arm blown off. You still have one arm working to operate the equipment at your "General Quarters" station.

      As brilliant as you guys are I thought you knew that "Enola Gay" was the mother of Lt. Colonel Paul Tibbets who commanded the B-29 that droppped the 'Fat Man" bomb on Horisima in Aug, 1945. Lt. Col. Tibbets named his B-29 "Enola Gay" when he became the pilot.

      The bomb that was dropped was a simple implosion device with a yield of 10 kilotons

      Im kinda partial the the B-17 G model with the belly gun. You can beat the living crap out of B-17 and it will still fly. The engineers that designed those aircraft were brillant, absoulutely brillant.

  33. Enola Gay, if you can cut and sew you can make your own body armor. It's call silk! Thailand bought and uses it for its police. 14 layers will stop most common calibers. A few more layers will stop more. Add your own plate carriers to hold ceramics or steel and be good to go. Use light chain mail to stop blades and shrapnel. You can buy silk shirts cheap at goodwill stores and cut them up.

  34. Just once, I would like to see people omit the dialogue about what is more important, the Bible or the Comstitution. It is so incredibly frustrating reading opinions that volley back and forth about this issue. I ask you this. "Why must uou do this? What purpose does it serve? When everything is going to hell faster than you can keep up with, are you going to spend your precious time debating this? Is it too much to ask that people simply accept that BOTH GOD and the CONSTITUTION are important? Can we just stop spending our time endlessly pouring through those comments? What does it really mean about us if we feel that we MUST comstantly remind our brothers and sisters that these are our beliefs? What ever happened to the convept of people simply assuming that each has his own beliefs and that those beliefs can remain personal and private?

    I've seen quite a few post were people were knocking around the Constition versus The Bible,etc.

    In the last 5000 years or so of recorded human history from Sumerians, Babylonians through the elections in November, no country nor kingdom that I know of has allowed its citizen as much self goverment or self rule than the United States has in all of human history. Things did not start to go bad untill the election of Abraham Lincoln (the start of Progressivism)

    The Constitution at its core is a wonderful document. We have lived in a golden era under the Constitution in an age of enlightenment, science, technology since the industrial revolution in the mid 19th century that allowed mens dreams to become reality thanks to the core of the Consitution.

    On the Bible, well that one's self explanatory. I dont evan need to go that route on the importance of that book.

    I think the core of the Constution and the Bible go hand in hand. One clearly mans defines mans worldly affairs, and the other takes a much more higher meaning with spirital affairs. The founders of this country needed some basic rules to live by, a clearly defined simple set of rules for citizens, a society and a goverment. The Constution was born.
    I like to think that the founders had the 'Ten Commandments" in mind when the Constitution was drafted. I can see the influence there and I have no problem with that.
