The truth of the Welfare State

My Grandfather sent this to me, and the irony struck me.  Maybe we should reconsider the way we dole out welfare!

Like most folks in this country, I have a job.  I work, they pay me.  I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.  In order to get that paycheck, in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem).

What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.

So, here is my question:  Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?

Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet.  I do, one the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT-----doing drugs or whatever they want while I work.

Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

I guess we could call the program "URINE OR YOU'RE OUT"!

  1. Firs, I want to thank our veterans for all that they sacrificed for our freedoms. May God bless them all. Happy Veterans Day.

Second, I completely agree with the "Urine or You're Out" test for welfare recipients. Actually, I would prefer absolutely no taxpayer-funded welfare of any kind. I think that "welfare" is first and foremost a personal responsibility. Anybody unable to provide for his/her own needs would receive help from donations and non-profits, not from confiscated tax money from those who DO provide for themselves. If I want to help somebody, it should be my choice whom I help, how much, and when. My 2 cents.

  2. Get serious. Next thing you will want people to show an ID before they can vote. :^)

  3. First, I also would like to thank our vets for there service. So many have given all for God and country. THANK YOU ALL>

I also completely agree with your post. This country has become dependent on the government for to much. OH ya, I think you should leagle, alive, not in prison and a citizen of the US to vote.

    Thanks,

  5. YES to the "Urine or You're Out"!! Of course the National Guard would have to help stop the resulting riots.

I think the more the government gets involved, the less we are required to act like neighbors and communities. So I support a cap on the length of time a person can receive welfare benefits - and you better either try and find a job or start building a network of people who would love to support you (sarcasm here), because I surely am tired of it.

And in echo - THANK YOU to all of our veterans, including my dad, my uncles, my cousins, my brother; and I am happy to have been able to serve my country for a little while.

  6. That is the most common sense idea I have ever heard! Those that are ill and on prescription medication can have a note from their doctor. I would love to see this established, and would put the government's war on drugs "money where their mouth is!"

  8. i think you are on to a good idea...sure can't hurt and just think of it as another way to help prevent fraud and abuse of welfare. should probably do the same thing for those who are collecting disability checks too...far too many disabled people on the rolls who can still do some kind of work!

  11. McDonald's has a new meal called the Obama Meal. You order whatever you like and the guy in line behind you pays for it.
