Sleeping with the Enemy

Admittedly, I am but a wife and mother.  I am not an intellectual, a scholar or a head of state.  However, I do know foolishness when I see it.  While reading my normal list of news sites, I came across an article that left me first sputtering and then speechless.  It seems that our government has chosen to sell F-15's to the Saudi's.  Really.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't 15 out of the 19 September 11th terrorist from Saudi Arabia?  Who, in their right mind would think it was wise to sell deadly technology (at a whopping good price, I am sure) to known enemy combatants?   And since when has "controlling" evil ever worked?

In reality, evil is evil and good is good.  Good can't arm evil and expect evil to do what good wants.  Evil, by its very nature is evil, eliminating any capacity to make a moral decision based on an agreement.  How can we expect to make a deal with the devil and not get burned?

Our leaders have chosen to make a deal for our technology so that they can "strengthen America's relationship with the Saudi's".  In doing so, we are putting our actual allies (Israel) in great jeopardy while we play footsies with the playground bullies.

I have no doubt that our elected official would call me ignorant and short-sighted - not understanding of the complexities of foreign relations.  And they would be correct.  But, I do know, that when you strip away all the fast talk and layers of "diplomacy" right is still right and wrong is still wrong.  There are no shades of gray.

We have been manipulated into believing that in order to run a country, a state or even a household, you have to be willing to compromise.  And while that may be true when dealing with things that don't really matter, it couldn't be further from the truth when it comes to the real issues of life. There can be no compromise.  Right is right and wrong is wrong.  Can you imagine giving the man who burned down your house a flame thrower so that he can help keep the people who killed your children in line?  Heaven forbid!

I shake my head at the wisdom of our leaders.  We have no business sleeping with the enemy.

This is nothing new in the course of history. Our "leaders" (using that word very loosely, especially these last few decades) have sold weaponry to other nations that are eventually used against us as they, then, become our enemy and vice versa. One day our leaders are buddy-buddy and shaking hands, the next we murder them in their own land. How does that add up?

God already knows and is allowing (with His set limits) such corrupt and greedy events to happen.
Gratefully, He is still on the throne, and one day soon to return. As we are nearing the end of this age and God is sweeping away the last of man's failed, greedy and corrupt empires, ultimately to usher in His Kingdom to come...we can see so much prophecy being fulfilled. What great hope and comfort we have in that.

It reminds me of what people foolishly say at voting time "Well, I am voting for the lesser of 2 evils." BUT...we still get....evil!!!

We who are His faithful believers can rejoice as we see such foolisness and corrupt greed on the part of our "leaders". God raised up Pharaoh (Exodus 4 - 14) for His purposes (Romans 9:17. He is raising up and hardening the hearts these "leaders" the same way - for His purposes to "demonstrate My power in you, and that My Name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth."

We know we have a glorious future that awaits us.
There is comfort and hope in that.

  2. Enola,

About the only good things I can say in regards to selling advanced fighter aircraft to Suadi Arabia is we are not including our "friend of foe" (friend of foe lets the computers and our pilots know if its one of ours) equipment or advanced targeting systems that that aircraft employs.
Another thing to, we sell them parts. If they act stupid, we dont sell them parts and the planes stay grounded. The fighter aircraft nowadays spend most of thier time in the hanger getting maintence and preventive maintence.
Im not a big fan of selling weapons to other countries, however Suadi Arabia is scared to death of Iran. The Sunni religous sect runs Saudi Arabia and the Sheites rule Iran. Those two sects have been battling it out since the 14th century.
Sometimes the Enemy of my Enemy is my friend. What we have to worry about is the fanantics taking over Suadi Arabia from the Saudi Royal Family.
I think Ron Pual has the right idea in the end run. Lets not get involved in anybody elses garbage. Im for backing Isreal 100 percent and telling everyone else to have a nice day and walk away.

The bank of the United States is broke and our kids need not bleed in combat for someone elses oil anymore.

  3. Well, when we have a prez who hates America and Israel, of course he's going to send fighter jets to a radical muslim nation.

I truly hope all the morons who voted for this anti-American prez are proud of themselves. They must sleep really well at night knowing they sold out their country so they could gain a few more handouts.

    Happy New Year? Not likely!

  7. There is a faction is Saudi Arabia that is hostile to the West. But the country is controlled bay a faction that is allied with the West. This simple truth applies to most nations in the world. There is a faction in Great Britain that is hostile to the West should we stop working with England? The F-15s will help stabilize the area in the event Iran decides to attack their nieghbors. But at the same time the F-15's are not much of a risk to our forces because they do not have the superior avionics or pilots that we do. When you consider that the Saudi's have the money and the ability to buy any plane they want it is better for the U.S. that they buy ours and not France's or Russia's. We have to deal with the reality on the ground not the dream world we would prefer.

  8. Like Sandy, I'm also with the first person to comment. Well said!

  9. I find myself not even able to get angry at these type of things anymore. The truth is these are symptoms of a bigger problem. Our country wants to be at war (even though congress has yet to declare war). They try to get the American public worked up about terrorist attacks. We are told, 'They hate us because we are free and rich.' or, 'They hate our God.' but it isn't true. They hate us because we are occupying their country. What would we do if Saudi Arabia had maintained military bases in our country for decades. We would attack and rightfully so. Our government wants to do whatever it takes to keep us at war and then blame that war on somebody else. I applaud the soldiers for their commitment and bravery, but that doesn't make the leaders decisions any better. The government creates the problems and then convinces the general public that we are fighting for our safety.

  10. "Obama Mocks And Attacks Jesus Christ and the Bible" - Oh,. please pass this along to all our Christian friends -
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?=Hi-V_iJu0w&feature=player_embedded

If this does not open up just go to youtube.com and type in the above "Obama Mocks..." title.

You might also check out the High Priestess Oprah Winfrey's comments alongside the right margin. Too many people who profess to be Christian are actually following the wrong god of either "O" if they think Oprah or Obama will point them in the right direction - It will certainly be to hell, not eternal life with Jesus Christ!

  11. Enola, this comment has nothing to do with your post today (with which I agree, by the way), but I am interested to know what homeschooling porgram you use for your children -or at least what Christian Bible sudy program you utilize. Your family seems to be one of the most in-tact, functioning families I have read about, and I would just like to know -if it is not too personal a question. If it is too personal, please forgive my question.

  12. It helps to know that it is God that does the " choosing ". He chose Noah, Abraham, Moses,Ester,David, Ruth, Mary based on their understanding of their relationship with the chosen people. He'll continue to do the same - so I can't get into "making it work out for me " - all I know is we have a choice to follow His teachings and God can ( and will ) judge accordingly in the long run.

  13. From a former F-15 maintainer...I can tell you that we've already sold Saudi Arabia hundreds of F-15's over the years so this is nothing new. We've also been training their pilots for decades.

I'm not a fan of giving the bad guys weapons but they do hold off the Iranians because there isn't any love between Iran and Saudi Arabia...

  14. Former pilot...agree with maintainer; Saudi's have had our F-15's since Hand Grenade was only a twinkle in Daddy's eyes.....

No worries, though. Most Saudi pilots can't fly their way out of a paper bag.

  16. Google US Arms sales. The US is the largest exporter of arms in the world. We sell to everybody that is currently not an enemy, which of course could change tomorrow and we end up fighting a force that has our weapons, like in Afghanistan and Iraq. Someone else stated that the US wants to be at war, but what's closer to the truth is that we are an economy of war - Eisenhower's exit speech of "beware of the military industrial complex" was quite prophetic, but he knew that was where we already were. There is a whole heck of a lot of money being made exporting all those arms.
