Pelican Ballet

A few weeks ago, as the children and I were splitting and stacking wood, Miss Serenity noticed a beautiful ballet happening above our heads.  At first, I thought swans had taken to the sky, but upon further inspection, we found that we were witnessing the flying acrobatics of 15 white pelicans!  What a gorgeous spectacle to behold!  They flew over our heads, banking and gliding on unseen wind currents, for a full 20 minutes before soaring off toward the nearby lake.  Although work halted so that we could enjoy the aerobatic display, it was well worth the delay.

Just another beautiful day in the American Redoubt!

  1. Enola, years ago when I served in the Corp I was stationed on a couple of USMC Air Stations. All the precision, formation flying in the various warbirds that I had the opportunity to watch doesn't hold a candle to those pelicans. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Cool. I didn't realize they ever flew inland. Learned something new!

    1. I have witnessed them doing the "ballet" in Gillette Wyoming. There are seagulls in Casper, too. Amazing where the Good Lord places them!

  3. I always stop to watch God's beauty, birds, animals, butterflies. I had a dragonfly follow me out of work and into the parking lot and almost to my car. I think my brother who passed last year sends these remarkable things my way. I never want to take for granted the beauty of the world.

  4. Beautiful!
So happy you take the time to SEE and then to SHARE.
I could get more done if I didn't follow my nose, my eyes, take a walk, give thanks. But then life would just be work.
Thank you for the beautiful pictures.
