We have been extraordinarily busy, with the beginning of (home)school and the change of seasons. Our entire schedule has been turned upside down and we are racing to catch up.
One of the things I do every fall is begin our deep cleaning. I know, I know, most people do their deep cleaning in the springtime, however, I always get the cleaning bug in the fall when I know that we will be cooped up in a tight space for the long days of winter. I want everything to be as organized and spic n span as possible.
I started our deep cleaning with my kitchen shelves. Open shelves have their place, but I must admit, they gather dust and grime like nobodies business! With canning season getting into high gear, I needed to go through our shelves, organize and rearrange them to make room for a new season of food. To say that my shelves were dirty was...well, rather an understatement.
You can see - the shelves need a little cleaning! |

Bake Buckle at 375° for 35 to 40 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted near the center comes out clean.
From our house to yours. Have a good week!
I love your open shelves, but agree about having them open causes dust and grease build up. Your idea of deep cleaning in the fall sounds better than in the spring. I may have to copy that idea. Have a wonderful weekend and don't work to hard.

we deep clean in the fall and in the spring. it surely is amazing how the grime builds up over time. i make blueberry buckle on a regular basis..love it! we like it warm with a scoop of vanilla icecream on top too. but it is just great served up along with a cold glass of milk or hot coffee.
ReplyDeleteI too believe in fall cleaning and spring cleaning! :)
ReplyDeleteWe deep clean in the Autumn as well. I love a clean home all ready for the cold months and holiday time!

Made the Blueberry Buckle this morning. Sooooo good. never had buckle before and am very pleased with this yummmie treat! I had it warm and just loved it. I will have to try the ice cream bit too. Fyi, if you use frozen blueberries like I did, dont let the batter linger in the bowl while making
ReplyDeletethe topping. Mine harden up (butter got cold) and I had to pop it into the oven for a bit so I could press it out into the pan. Live and learn :)
Your stocked shelves are so beautiful! It reminds me of one of those 1800-something stores shelves. Or an old time larder. Gorgeous! Glad to hear your feeling better! I hope the rest the family is immune to whatever bug hit you.
