The Great Division

Our nation is rent in two and the ever-widening chasm threatens to destroy our carefully preserved inheritance of liberty.  Our countrymen, answering the call of their souls, have divided themselves into two distinct encampments, readying for battle.  As they prepared for the coming onslaught, both camps worship at the feet of their god - one serving the god of State, the other, the God of the Bible.

The war cries grow louder, the rattle of sabers more intense.  True believers, both of the State and of the Living God, gird their loins and prepare their minds and bodies for the battle that is at hand.  In these first few skirmishes some will fall away.  Having neither the stomach nor conviction to stand their ground, they become one among the masses relegated to weeping and gnashing their teeth.

The State is strong, its victory is sure - but only for a time.  Our enemy is not the State, but the enemy of men's souls.  Be strong and courageous - fear not, for God is with thee.

No longer are we fighting to preserve our nation or our heritage - we are fighting for the souls of men.  Our conviction comes not from a loyalty to a political party or an ideal, but from a heart reborn, filled with the spirit of God himself.  This is a battle we were born for - created for.  Do not lose heart.

Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

  2. Alexander Tytler (1747-1813) was a Scottish-born English lawyer and historian. Reportedly, Tytler was critical of democracies, pointing to the history of democracies such as Athens and its flaws, cycles, and ultimate failures. Although the authenticity of his following quote is often disputed, the words have eerie relevance today:

    A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.

    A democracy will continue to exist up until the time voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by dictatorship.

    The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

    From bondage to spiritual faith;
    From spiritual faith to great courage;
    From courage to liberty;
    From liberty to abundance;
    From abundance to complacency;
    From complacency to apathy;
    From apathy to dependence;
    From dependence back to bondage.

    1. Hi Anonymous:

      The Founding Fathers agreed with you, which is why our system of government was designed to be a constitutional republic and not a democracy.

      A democracy is based on majority rule, which is why a democracy of 2 wolves and one lamb voting on what is for dinner should result in a very nervous lamb. As a more serious and very sad current example, the democratically elected Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is severely persecuting and murdering the minority Christian population. (Sadly and shamefully, with the support of our leaders.) This is entirely consistent with how a democracy works.

      In contract, in a republic, the rights of the INDIVIDUAL are paramaount, and the rights of minorities can't be usurped by a majority. We are now in a degraded situation as our republic descends into a democracy, with all of the ills you've noted above.

      Kind regards,
      Gwen

      P.S. A few more words (not mine) on a Republic. "A Republic (compared to a democracy) has a very different purpose and an entirely different form, or system, of government. Its purpose is to control The Majority strictly, as well as all others among the people, primarily to protect The Individual’s God-given, unalienable rights and therefore for the protection of the rights of The Minority, of all minorities, and the liberties of people in general. The definition of a Republic is: a constitutionally limited government of the representative type, created by a written Constitution--adopted by the people and changeable (from its original meaning) by them only by its amendment.

    2. Hi Gwen,
      Your point regarding a republic is correct. A republic is governed by LAW. The question is who's law is used? GOD's law or man's? The usa chose to reject GOD with it's immoral constitution and as a result will go the way of all other UNGODLY powers....

  3. And once again - we fail to teach honest and ACCURATE history in the public schools and so history repeats itself. Our son regularly corrects his PS history/government/economics instructors - at least we live in a part of the country where they will (in class) admit that he is right! I just wish we were more prepared......

  4. I keep thinking that we are in the days Paul spoke of in 2 Thes. 2:3 "Let no one in any way deceive you, for it [the day of the Lord] will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction...."

    Having seen a friend go from the one woman I knew to have had a Bush-Cheney bumpersticker in a VERY liberal city while campaigning against SSM efforts in our state in 2004 to an Obama supporter in 2008 and 2012, then last week declaring her allegience to the cause of perverting marriage law. She even compared the Biblical stance to the racist opposition to interethnic marriage.

    This is only the latest friend to have gone whole-hog after the world. Some have long ago decided to cave to sexual temptations and can say no good about any who uphold God's revealed design for marriage. Other friends who were once with me in student missions to former Communist nations are ardent supporters of Obama's socialist ideology and others have abandoned him for the further-left Green Party.

    I used to work for a conservative congregation of a left-leaning denomination. From their regional conference leadership (the most liberal in the nation) one would often hear the unbelievable claim that 'the world now has the prophetic voice and the church needs to listen.' Alas, that would ring true to the above mentioned friends. They truly believe that lie, as do more and more people who claim to be followers of Jesus.

    The tares truly are scattered among the wheat and all is coming to fruition.

    2. I was an employee of that congregation only and belong to a related but more Biblical movement. The friends who are straying come from unrelated Christian schools and student fellowship groups. I still believe I was employed in that church to support those who were trying to hold the line against encroaching apostasy. That mission ended and I'm in a new field.

  6. It's important for both sides to understand that we are "rent in two" by those in power who benefit from keeping both sides angry at each other. We are being used; divide and conquer. This is a simple tactic that works because we cannot or will not see through it. We are contributing to our downfall.

  9. The die was cast in November the collapse will be bloody and those who see it coming will have a better chance than those who are in denial, but there is no guarantee of survival in the coming chaos, this is for sure the US will go the way of other powers that overspent and what comes next is any ones guess, I just hope we last until the next election so Obama is not a permanent leadership figure in what is left of the US. The lines are drawn between the statists and patriots but these are political lines, not geographic, so in some places the statists will control and in others the patriots, those were the statiss control will become zones of tyranny and oppression.
