Do We Still Choose Independence??
".....Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transit Causes; and accordingly all Experience hath shown, that Mankind are more disposed to suffer, while Evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the Forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long Train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursing invariably the same Object, evinces a Design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future Security......"

Amen. We are now in a near free-fall toward the inevitable breakup of Lincoln’s Northern model of a highly centralized supreme federal government. Prepare accordingly. Where do you want your loved ones to be when the breakup happens, an ‘Estonia’ or a ‘Tajikistan’?
ReplyDeleteTake a minute and look at Estonia. It is a far cry from being a Soviet state. Estonia is ranked #6 in Index of Economic Freedom by The Heritage Foundation. The US is ranked #17 and steadily declining. Imagine if Estonia were God-fearing, shared Articles of Confederation with other States, adhered to a gold-standard, was large enough (think American Redoubt) to defend itself, and has plenty of trees from which to hang those convicted of being treason.
Young families stay out of harm’s way. Young men and old coots fight! Young women do what your grandmothers did.

Also glad to hear your family is together! What a blessing. Don't want to intrude on new owners of the Shouse, but do you think they will keep it as you did? And live there? Off grid?
ReplyDeleteEnola, please come back to your blogging.........miss you.
ReplyDeleteJust wondering how Dragon Snack's soap business fared this summer?
ReplyDeleteHave you given up on the blog, Enola ? If you aren't going to write anymore, please, just tell us so we don't keep coming here with an expectation of news from your family. We miss hearing about you and the children. For so many years it felt like we were all friends.

Well, I'm trying to do what my grandmother did (work hard, save "money" which in this case is in the form of goods, obey my husband, keep good relations with the community)... I'm getting very tired. I'd say I hope I'll die before it all breaks down, but then it would just be my kids' problem...
ReplyDeleteI know you are busy but I really miss your posts. Hope things are going well for you and yours. Beth. Masontown, PA
