Radio Silence

I will be going silent for a time.  Hopefully it won't be long - but as we all find out at point or another, when it rains, it pours.

Sir Knight and I have been burdened with a fairly heavy tax bill this year, argh!  It is highly annoying, but we are managing.  Our belts have tightened to the point of suffocation but God is good and we always have what we NEED.

Yesterday my computer up and quit - with no warning!  Maid Elizabeth did manage to recesitate it long enough for me to download some documents to a thumb drive that I would have been bereft without (including a novel that I have been writing) and backup everything important.

At this point a new computer is not on the top of our priority list.  With that in mind, please forgive my anticipated "Radio Silence".  I will post as I am able (I am writing this on a borrowed iPad), including Miss Serenity's speech for the 2nd Amendment rally, however my posts will be few and far between.

Also, my opportunity to return emails is limited - I can only use our phone.  If you email, I will do my best to send you at least a few lines.

Until then,

Enola and Family

P.S.  I have such incredibly wonderful readers!  Your concern is so appreciated, but really, we are doing just fine.  Taxes are an inconvenience, but nothing more.  We are blessed beyond measure and want for nothing.  I am just waiting for a bit to take my computer in to the smart folks at the Genius Bar and have them take a look.  As with everybody else, it is just a matter of budgeting my time and money properly.  Thank you everyone for your words of encouragement.  You are all wonderful gifts.

  1. So sorry that you have been hit with having to shell out money for taxes. It doesn't seem right or fair. Hoping things will start looking brighter for you soon.

    Blessings~

  2. Unfortunately, at some time or another, we've all been in the same boat as you. First things first. I'll miss your blog, but know you'll return when you can. Good luck!

  3. Enola,
I have an extra computer - (tower) ...I am not very computer literate, but it is one I got from work for free and I would be more than happy to ship it to you...

  5. If you check college surpluses sales, you can get a decent computer pretty cheap. I've bought complete desktops at USU for as little as 40.00. They have laptops to but they cost a bit more.

  6. You'll be in our thoughts and prayers.

On that note, I too have an old computer (tower, hubby hauled it home from work for $10 to be a gift for a child until I put my heavy foot down about Internet access from bedrooms) that I would be more than happy to send you. I cannot, unfortunately, actually vouch that it works (once I came down on the Internet issue, it didn't see use, and I am completely incompetent about computers).

  8. Oh I am so sorry. We always have a big tax bill. We know a family who always gets an enormous tax refund - 8 - 10K+. It is mainly because the husband/father will not work 80% of the time. Ticks me off. Those of us who work, pay big, and this family enjoys wonderful vacations, etc. on our dime, then has the nerve to complain after they have run through their refund that they do not have anything, and cannot make it month to month.

Prayers for things to work out quickly for you guys!

    1. I had a neighbor like that-got huge tax refunds, which he used to help keep the closest liquor store in business, and then wonder where all of the money went. The same guy begged gas money not two weeks later. He's now on disability after injuries from a DUI-related crash-at least the guy moved away. You can be stupid and paid for it! On a related note, the IRS can be miserable to deal with, even for minor(or non-existent) problems-it can takes months or years to get things straightened out. The mental image I have for the IRS is the Vogons from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

  14. Miss Serenity, good luck with your address on the 2nd Amendment tomorrow. We wish we could be in Coeur D'Alene to hear it live, but you will be in our thoughts.

  15. I feel your pain! This is the first year of my entire working life that I owe taxes! A LOT of taxes! In one way it makes me grateful . . . obviously I had a successful year with my business BUT my tax advisor and I had not prepared for me to be that successful and I didn't pay enough throughout the year. I learned a valuable lesson about saving for a rainy day . . . <3
