Great Expectations

America.  The very sound of that name made men weak in the knees.  Dreams of a future, a hope, a chance to be a freeman rather than a subject, caused fathers to lead their families into the great unknown, at tremendous risk to meager fortunes and even life itself.  These families toiled under the harshest conditions imaginable for years on end, with nothing but great expectations to keep them going.  You see, in America, anything was possible.  If a man was diligent, honest, hardworking and faithful, he could obtain a better life, if not for himself, for his posterity.  America was the land of realized dreams and endless possibilities.  America was the land of the free and the home of the brave.

For generations, our great country provided sanctuary to men and women from every nation on earth.  Men and women dreaming of a better life - those willing to pay for the price of their dream by the sweat of their brow.  The price was high, but the dividend unmatched.  America was a builder of men.

As our country became established, toil and hardship gave way to ease and comfort.  Our people, once hallmarked by their tenacity, by their ability to thrive in the midst of the most adverse conditions, became entitled and lazy.  They wanted all of the benefits of being freemen with none of the responsibility.

They couldn't have it both ways.  Little by little, our people began to look to the government to shoulder the responsibility for their happiness and success rather than being responsible for themselves.  They wanted to pretend to be freemen, but only when being a freeman was easy.  When it became difficult or uncomfortable, they expected, no, they demanded, that their master to come to their rescue.  The master was only too willing.

Like humoring small children, the master allowed the people to believe they were still free. But little by little, freedom by freedom, they were closing the net .  They have now effectively convinced the people that they are not fit to care for themselves, make their own decisions or manage their own estates.  In fact, any "freemen" that truly attempt to live as a sovereign is quickly reminded they are but mere subjects.  Our great expectations have come to ruin.

People, we choose.  We choose how to live.  We choose to live as hopeless paupers or as free men.  The path of the free man is wrought with peril and hardship.  It is the road less traveled.  But this road allows your soul to soar, it gives you hope.  It makes you responsible for yourself and your future rather than waiting for crumbs from a cruel master.

You can't have it both ways.  You can't live as free men and still expect the government to pull your fat out of the fire.  Choose.  Live.  Be free.

Lord, give us the courage to choose to live free, whatever the cost. Thank you, Enola, for another well written post.

My family was SAD not to have made it to Farragut this weekend to see you and your crew. Looking forward to hearing about Master Hand Grenade's time with your folks ,and the new book! Please give our hugs & greetings to them all...until we meet again!

  2. One of our Founders' greatest fears was being disarmed by government. Most Americans naively gave up their 2nd Amendment rights without a fight. Now they awake to see freedom and civility quickly falling to decay and despotism. History has recorded time and time again what follows the disarmament of ‘the people’.

Last weekend’s Oath Keepers Rally in Idaho demonstrates that there is STILL HOPE for those Americans who want to pass freedom onto the next generation. Thousands of God-fearing rugged individualists refuse to give up their arms. They will bow only to God, not to government. They are small in number but remember, God does His best with few.

Enola is right on, “You can’t have it both ways”. The window of freedom is closing. Americans must DECIDE NOW whether to join those ready to fight for a New America comprised of Free States, or join the flock of government sheep being led to slavery or slaughter. Which do you choose?

  4. 13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

    I Never Knew You

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one WHO DOES THE WILL of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

We are free in CHRIST. It doesn't matter who the POTUS is, what a constitution says, what laws are passed, etc... A true Christian is a sojourner in this life/world. Live for Christ, not for what YOU believe/want...

  5. Enola,

Yeah' the feds want every part of our lives controlled. That thought process wont go away until the .gov grows broke and collapses in on itself and everyone is on their own.

On a good note I am one of the people involved with a Patriot Convention that will be held down here in Texas in September.

    http://texaspatcom.wordpress.com/

We trying to keep this a Texas thing. What goes in Texas stays in Texas is the saying.

On a side note. Im getting back in surfing after a five year hiatus and I just ordered a 9'6 (nine foot six inch) surfboard known as a longboard. This will be longboard no.7 since 1994. I will be surfing "North Padre Island" in the Gulf of Mexico by this time next week. I have a back injury and knee injury so carrying a rucksack through the woods and jogging are out of the question but I can lay down on the board and paddle all day long and catch a few waves too.

Now you can I'm a "Surfing Survivalist or a Paddling Prepper"

I was delighted to find out that several of the old crew I used to surf with are preppers too and several of those guys have AR-15 rifles.

    Imagine that, Surfers with AR-15's.

The stereotype of the pot smoking, "Jeff Spicolli" (Fast Times at Ridgemont High) is just that, a stereotype.

One thing about surfers, we are rebels. No disputing that fact. In the past the "authorities" would close down public beaches during hurricanes. We went out anyway. Its our choice to put our lives in danger despite what "the establishment thinks" is in "our best interest"

Common theme on this blog right.....

Don't try to rescue us, we take care of ourselves. I live for riptides and dangerous currents, I use them to paddle out to the big waves, sometimes as far out as one thousand yards from the beach.

and no I am NOT worried about sharks. First rule is, don't go surfing when bleeding. Second rule is, don't paddle out with a raw T-Bone steak "duct taped" to your back (that's asking for trouble) Too many inlanders spend too much time watching "Shark Week" and get freaked out.

Surfing and being out in the seawater is a whole other world for you guys inland and especially if your up in the rural areas and mountains of the American redoubt. I can't describe the how fun it is to stand up, catch a wave and working the board to ride that wave for a hundred yards or so. Its pure euphoria and also can be "full on adrenaline" when its a big wave.

    you should try sometime.....
