What a weekend we had! Sir Knight and I hosted a lovely tea party, complete with a tent, shotguns and wonderful friends. Although the weather was cool the fellowship was warm and we ate, drank, shot and talked to our hearts content.
We have so many photos, I thought I would share them in two posts - lets get started!

Hi Enola
ReplyDeleteI hosted a similar event at my place yesterday for family & extended family. Our accommodations were not quite as fancy as yours but we had shooting, dirt bikes (motorized and pedal powered), BBQ, Frisbees, roller blades on my big wood deck, birthday parties (plural) and lots of good fellowship. Ages ran from 5 to 82. 'Twas a glorious event.
The world needs more of these events - including your uplifting blog.
Hangtown Frank
Mrs Enola,
ReplyDeleteThis looks like so much fun! Can't wait for the next set of pictures
Thank you for letting all of us experience this event with you through the lovely pictures you shared. Great memories for everyone, I'm sure. Hope you have some stories to share with us too from that day!
ReplyDeleteAnd a wonderful time was obviously had by all! Everyone looks so festive - especially Sir Knight. Are those leather kilts? Awesome.
ReplyDeleteSir Knight and Maid Elizabeth are both wearing kilts by Alt Kilt. They are a very heavy cotton canvas and beautifully hand-crafted. They are custom ordered and take upwards of 4 months to be completed, but are worth the wait.
DeleteEnola
Can someone explain the whole kilt thing? Seriously, I just don't get it. My husband wouldn't be caught dead in one. Thanks!
DeleteThe whole "kilt thing" is something that those of Scottish ancestry still participate in. My father wouldn't wear one either though his great grandfather came from Scotland...it's his generation, he's almost eighty and prefers boots and jeans. I think it's neat actually and our family enjoys celebrating our heritage, my side Scottish/Irish/English and my husband is German/English.
DeleteLooks like a tactical kilt...made out of the same fabric as camps.
ReplyDeleteEnola,
ReplyDeleteNow this event turned out very nice. I love the tent......reminds me of military days :-)
Will your tea be a yearly event?
Sandy;
DeleteWe think it will be twice a year - once in the spring and again in the fall! It was so much fun.
Enola
Nice!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day you all had! And your children! So many tell me that they miss their babies, but I love to watch them grow and develop into their own persons, with thoughts and opinions and dreams of their own and then to have them join in... those are the moments to collect and cherish close to the heart...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day! And your Sir Knight is definitely that! But no pictures of Enola?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Love the way you decorate and make everything look so "old-fashioned" and homey. The huge rack on the table adds a very rustic flavor :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful family......looks like it was a fun time for everyone.
ReplyDeleteWow, what an awesome way to spend the day.
ReplyDeleteSort of a steampunk/dieselpunk look to it..Pasties! My aunt used to make these-she learned how from a woman they lived near in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Those are great-I haven't had eaten one in over 30 years..
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had one of those A Good Time Was Had By All events..
Awesome photos from an awesome get-together. Thank you for sharing. Beautiful family. Wow, Master Hand Grenade has really grown up!

Enola

Gosh that looks like fun! What a great way to spend a day with friends and family! This is what the Lord intended for us; fellowship, bonding, shared joys, and making sweet memories. Thanks for this lift up! -Stealth Spaniel
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! It really does not get any better than that! Lovely in looks and in fellowship. Your children make my heart happy to see them as adults. Tell Maid Elizabeth I surely miss her blog. I hope the next installment has a lovely picture of you and of the beautiful Princess Dragonsnack.

Absolutely wonderful !
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of Sr. Knight manning the skeet thrower. Mighty handsome Husband you have there. Love the kilt. Where did he get that? Also love the b/w photo of your Georgia transplant. Beautiful. Also (lol) love Maid Elizabeth's skirt. Where'd she get that? (I love skirts!) Thanks for sharing these. This looks like a most lovely day.
ReplyDeleteJules;
DeleteSir Knight and Maid Elizabeth are both wearing kilts! Both are from Alt Kilt (just look online for Alt Kilt). The quality is amazing. The only downside is that it does take the lady who runs the sight quite a while to make and ship them (upwards of four months) and they are rather expensive. They are once in a lifetime purchases and are built to last!
And we love our Georgia transplant as well! Have a great afternoon.
Enola
Enola, how did you find so many wonderful people who share your interests and worldview? We have struggled with cultivating friendships. Everyone is "too busy" with sports or work or whatever. We homeschool and live in a rural area. So we pursued 4-H but there was too much drama between all the "powers that be". We love our church but there are no other children except an occasional grandchild that attends with grandparents. I would love to hear your practical suggestions. Thank you.
ReplyDeletePart of what you are looking for is up to others to supply – folks who are beyond their child raising years and folks who never had kids. These are the folks who will benefit from providing the next generation of folks who will care for them then they need it. These are the folks who generally have the resources to share what they have accumulated over the years with those who haven’t yet had the time to accumulate that which is required to host events such as Enola Gay’s shooting, eating, & tea fest. In my area I’m now one of those folks. How do I find folks to invite to these events? I ask my middle aged kids – they know. My reward – enjoying local young couples the are of my grandkids ages and their little one the ages of my great-grandkids who live far away.
DeleteSo - guess my message is really to the older generations - do your duty and step up to the enjoyable task of helping those are still raising kids.
Hangtown Frank
Dear Hangtown Frank;
DeleteThank you for your wonderful response! You are so right - we do all need each other, and some are in a better place in life to minister to others. I'm certain your gatherings are a wonderful thing indeed!
Enola
Can we get a better picture of the boots Master Hand Grenade is wearing and where we might be able to get them?
ReplyDeleteI'll see what I can do for a picture. I don't remember who made his boots, but they are riding boots (equestrian). They are a military style. We bought them dirt cheap on Craigslist from a man who had worn them while playing Polo.
ReplyDeleteEnola
I love get togethers like this. Nothing better then guns and food. My only fear is the GOV cataloging all the face pictures. Just me but I havent trusted the GOV in years.
